About This Video

I’ve been daily driving the reMarkable Paper Pro Move for a few weeks now (closing in on a month), using it at my day job and at home, and this video is my long-term take on what’s basically a shrunk-down Paper Pro. A lot of what I liked (and disliked) about the Paper Pro is still true here: you get the same glare-free color E Ink-style display with a muted color gamut, the same excellent front light for night reading, and the same upgraded markers that feel more accurate and last way longer than the old reMarkable 2 tips. The whole pitch is simple: Paper Pro is the full “A4-ish” experience, and the Move is the compact notebook/sketchbook you can take anywhere. But the Move comes with trade-offs that aren’t obvious in the marketing. Battery life is the big one: I haven’t been able to get past a week, which doesn’t match the “2 weeks+” messaging, and it’s noticeably worse than my Paper Pro (which I found closer to 2.5–3 weeks). I also think the Move feels cheaper in hand thanks to the rubberized back, and I still don’t buy the “pocketable” marketing—this is jacket pocket or messenger bag territory, not front-jeans-pocket territory. On the plus side, the smaller screen is sharper (higher pixel density), it feels snappier, and the front-light bleed is better contained than on the Paper Pro. My bottom line: if you truly need ultra-compact, the Move is fun and fast, but for the price gap, the Paper Pro often makes more sense—especially when software still feels behind what the hardware could be doing.
