The AI game is heating up, and in this video I go hands-on with the Omi Wearable GPT—a tiny, coin-sized pendant that you click once to start recording your surroundings, then send off to GPT for transcription, summaries, and insights. I walk through the unboxing, what’s actually in the box (the Omi, a quick start guide, a pendant chain, and a rubber casing), and why the physical design matters. It’s genuinely small and simple, but that also means it’s easy to accidentally trigger in-hand—so I found the rubber casing on the pendant helps make recording more intentional. From there, I break down how the Omi app compares to Plaude Note, because the workflow is very similar: record, stop, process, then search and audit the transcript and summary afterward. Battery life is realistically a “charge it nightly” situation—about a day of use—though the magnetic USB-C dock makes that easy. Where Omi gets interesting is value: it’s cheaper than Plaude (roughly $125 CAD vs. $150–$170 CAD) and it currently includes way more free transcription minutes. The app is more limited today (and I wish I could export audio), but Omi’s roadmap—integrations, smart glasses, and even brain-module concepts—is one of the clearest I’ve seen, for better or worse.
