About This Video

My E90 BMW engine bay was super dirty, so in this video I do a ChrisFix-style “super clean” using simple, off-the-shelf stuff. The big takeaway is: start with a dry clean first. I hit everything with a stiff bristle brush, loosened up all that dust (you can literally see it puffing off), and vacuumed it out so I’m not turning the dirt into a nasty paste the second I spray anything wet on it. After that, I used ZEP Industrial Purple Degreaser and the same brushes to agitate grime, then wiped it all down with microfiber towels. This method is way gentler than blasting the engine bay with a pressure washer—especially on older wiring sleeves and areas like the valve cover where water can get trapped around the spark plug/injector cavity. Once it was clean, I finished it off with Meguiar’s Ultimate Black on the visible plastics. It soaks in more than you’d think, sometimes taking a few coats, but if you apply it right and don’t leave it greasy, it won’t just attract dust. Total time was about 45 minutes and the results were honestly incredible.
