Day 5 in Taiwan was all about getting out of Taipei and into nature, and honestly it was the reset I didn’t know I needed. We joined a guided tour up to the northern part of Taiwan and started with these wild rock formations that were so beautiful… but also kind of low-key giving me the heebie-jeebies once we got closer because it turns into a little hike. I’m sharing the real vibes of the day—fresh air, rainforest humidity, and that feeling of “wait, we could actually live here.” One of the most special moments was releasing sky lanterns and making wishes as a family. We wrote messages about creating a future we’re proud of (and for Mason: never stop learning and let curiosity guide you), then watched them float up—so, so beautiful. Of course we had to try the iconic snacks too, like the deboned chicken wing stuffed with rice (surprisingly good) and the peanut ice cream spring roll with cilantro… which sounds crazy but yolo. We ended the day at a massive waterfall—the biggest I’ve personally seen—and then visited the Spirited Away-inspired town before tackling what felt like endless stairs. Real mum-life update: Mason was awake and screaming his head off by the end, so if you’re coming, prepare to walk and prepare to be tired… but it’s so worth it.
