They say Taiwan is meant to be the food lovers’ heaven, so on Day 3 I had to go straight for a scallion pancake that literally went viral on TikTok. It’s one of those tiny hole-in-the-wall spots that’s absolutely rammed (which is always a good sign), and I got mine with ham, cheese, and corn. It was about £1.50 in total—super soft, really simple, but done properly. It’s not “revolutionary”, but it’s the kind of food you know you’ll be thinking about when you get home. I also share a little travel tip I noticed straight away: Taiwan is very cash-heavy, especially for food, so make sure you exchange cash before you go around eating. Then we headed to Young Kang Beef Noodle Soup because everyone was telling Graham to try it, and we ended up queuing for another viral snack too—these crackers with a marshmallow/nougat-y filling and even green onions in the cracker. They were soft, fresh, not too sweet… and yes, I went back to buy two more boxes to take home. It’s also a little reminder that everyone does holidays differently—me and Graham love chasing viral food spots, but some people are totally happy with a 7-Eleven sandwich in the park.
