About This Video

Breastfeeding has genuinely been one of the hardest skills I’ve ever had to learn, and in this video I’m sharing the real, raw reality of what my journey has looked like. I went to three different lactation consultants, more than eight breastfeeding clinics, and we even found out my baby had a tongue tie—so it really felt like all the odds were against me. But I still set myself a goal: to breastfeed exclusively for 3 months. Getting past that point (and now being at 4 months) has helped me release some of the mental load and pressure I was putting on myself. Lately though, I’ve noticed my supply dropping—especially after my holiday—and it’s been hard emotionally. He seems hungrier, fussier at the breast, and when I pump I’m only getting about 1 oz, which makes me feel like there’s just no more milk left. So I’m slowly starting to introduce formula by mixing it into my breast milk to make it gentler on his tummy. I feel relieved, but also so sad, because breastfeeding became this sacred bonding time for us. I also talk about how my mindset shifted from almost hating breastfeeding to realizing it’s a privilege—and I ask you guys for formula recommendations as I start this next chapter.
