About This Video

Today I took Mason for his 8-week vaccine appointment and honestly
I was so nervous. He had to get three different vaccines—one was oral, and then two big injections, one in each leg. As a first-time mum, it was genuinely traumatizing having to hold my baby down while he was crying like that. There’s nothing that can describe the feeling when you see your baby in distress, and I felt so guilty even though I know it’s for his health. I also shared the reality of doing this kind of appointment day—like driving with the baby by myself for the first time (the GP is only 5 minutes away but I was still panicking). After the vaccines, they told me to watch his temperature and if it goes over 38°C, to call 111. I was also told to give him Calpol as soon as we got home, and I showed what it looks like with the little syringe. My biggest takeaway as a mum right now? When in doubt, put him on the boob—hungry, fussy, sleepy
the boob is the answer to everything. And yes, the worst part is knowing there are three sets of these vaccines, every four weeks.
