I’m pushing back against the whole “tormented artist” agenda—the idea that you have to suffer to make meaningful work, or that darkness is automatically deeper. I’m a spooky art teacher and friendly neighborhood witch, so yes, I love the macabre… but I’m not here to romanticize misery. Joy is not shallow. Joy is fuel. Joy is information. I share how I approach joy like an actual creative practice: noticing it, naming it, letting it have a shape, a color, a symbol—then translating that into drawings, sketchbook pages, and tiny rituals that make the feeling stay in my body a little longer.
