Have you ever wished you could carve your own terrain, but dont have the time or skill to make it from XPS foam? If you answered yes, I think you're in for a treat! In this video, I show you how to hand-carve diorama terrain from foam and then, I use technology to create a 1:1 copy of my hand-made art. Thanks to today's video sponsor, @3dmakerpro I have a Moose 3D scanner, which I put to the test in this video. Huge thanks to them! In this video, I show you how to use the 3d scanner, print the object on a 3D printer, and even give some tips on the print settings that I like using for these terrain 3D prints that help you be efficient with your filament usage. Special thanks to @DuaneShootsToys for inspiring me to get into 3D scanning. 💬 Comment below — did you guess right? Want me to scan and print this next? About This Video

In this video I’m basically playing a little game with you: one of these “rock” pieces is just hand-carved foam, and the other is… not. I start by showing you my simple process for carving terrain out of XPS foam so you can get that real rock breakup and texture without needing to be some foam-sculpting wizard. The goal is to make something that reads as stone at 1:12 scale—clean shapes, believable cuts, and enough surface detail that paint can do the heavy lifting later. Then I bring in the tech: I scan my hand-made terrain using the 3DMakerPro Moose 3D scanner and turn that physical sculpt into a digital file so I can make a true 1:1 copy. I walk through the scanning workflow, the basic software side, and how I like to 3D print these terrain pieces in a way that doesn’t waste filament. After that, I paint the print so you can see how it compares to the original foam version, and I give you my honest take on whether a scanner like this makes sense for your setup—especially if you want repeatable rocks, cliffs, and modular terrain for Marvel Legends, DBZ, NECA, and more.
