Last time I installed the Radar Renegade R/T+ on my Hilux, but the real question was simple: can it handle the same muddy track where I always get stuck? In this video I brought the truck back to our usual private grass lot—mix of inclines, declines, and nasty ruts (some around 10–18 inches deep). The soil here is sticky clay, super slick when wet, so it’s perfect for checking if the R/T+ can actually put traction down on deep mud and slippery grass. I ran the tires at 35 PSI the whole time (yes, road pressure) and tried the same rutted sections that used to stop my old A/Ts, especially with a heavy load at the back. On most parts, the Renegade R/T+ crawled through with ease—no extra throttle, no excessive wheel spin, just a steady crawl and it walked right out. There was one very slippery spot where I struggled because I didn’t build enough momentum and I didn’t air down, but you can see the tread clearing mud as it rotates and slowly gaining bite. My takeaway: the RT+ is a solid off-road upgrade for muddy and intermediate trails, with a good balance of grip and on-road comfort—though for that worst, greasy section, a true mud-terrain like the Renegade X or R7 M/T will still be better.
