Part 2 of my Mid-Year Crawl & Chill is all about the next leg after Sapamato and Bella Montana—this time we head out to Mapanuepe Lake (yung “New Zealand of Zambales”) and then camp at the all-new Angeles campsite. The drive isn’t super long, but the scenery changes fast as we cross the lahar fields left by Pinatubo. The route I used three years ago got washed out, so we had to find our own way through—medyo uncertain, pero yun yung masaya, parang old days na adventure talaga. After taking in the calm view at Mapanuepe, we rolled out to the campsite. The trail to the lake is way easier now and there are more amenities (CRs and small stores), so halos any vehicle kaya na. At Angeles campsite, I did a quick setup and campsite tour—riverfront spot, mountain backdrop, basic but usable toilet and poso, and even a nearby beginner-friendly hike. I also shared updates on my gear: new recovery boards, my Kings Grand Tourer RTT, the Kings 270 freestanding awning (still surviving), and my current power setup where I’m testing the EcoFlow Delta 2 Max paired with an alternator charger—super helpful if you’re using appliances like a rice cooker and electric stove while moving from one camp to another.
