In this Gear Up with UAZAP episode, I do a quick walkthrough and real-world review of the Adventure Kings Kwiky MK2 pop-up hard shell rooftop tent. I’ve been trying it out because it’s one of the more affordable hard shell RTTs you can get, and the main draw is the setup speed—around 1 to 2 minutes. You just unbuckle the four latches and let the gas struts do the lifting, which is super nice after a long day of driving. I also go over the key specs like the exterior size (about 2120mm x 1270mm x 320mm closed), around 73kg weight, and the ABS plastic shell with upgraded bracing on the MK2. Inside, I talk about the actual livability: decent headroom so you can sit up, a 50mm mattress that’s thicker than most smaller hard shell RTTs, and small storage pockets for essentials. Ventilation-wise, you get two windows and two doors with mesh and canvas covers, but only the door mesh panels zip up and down. I’ve used it in rainy conditions and didn’t encounter water leaks, especially on the seams—the hard shell helps a lot up top and the canvas did its job. My pros are the fast setup, compact low profile design, and being able to keep bedding inside. The trade-offs are the narrow sleeping area (snug for couples, especially bigger people), smaller windows/doors, and no insulation on the hard shell ceiling. If you pack light and want quick camp setup, it’s a solid middle ground—available at Overland Kings for around ₱92,000.
