About This Video

What’s up guys—we here. In this DIY video, I replaced the brake fluid on my Hilux, and the steps are pretty much the same for most vehicles. I show you the exact tools you need (nothing fancy): the correct brake fluid (check your owner’s manual or the reservoir cap), a wrench, a simple pump/siphon to pull old fluid from the reservoir, rags, and a super basic one-man bleeding setup using a bottle with a drilled cap and a hose. In this run, I didn’t even remove the wheels to save energy and time—I just used a garage creeper to get underneath. I also explain the correct bleeding order depending on whether your vehicle has ABS and where the ABS module sits relative to the master cylinder. Then I walk through the actual bleeding: open the bleeder valve, pump the brake pedal slowly (and don’t go all the way to the firewall), keep the reservoir topped up so you don’t introduce air, and continue until the fluid runs clear with no bubbles. Before wrapping up, I talk DOT3 vs DOT4 (DOT4 has a higher boiling point), plus a practical service interval: DOT3 around every 2–3 years, and DOT4 around 1.5–2 years since it absorbs moisture faster. And of course—clean any spills with soapy water or APC because brake fluid is corrosive.
