All right what’s up everybody—this video is all about one of those pieces of gear that’s cheap on paper, but the quality does not scream “budget” at all. I’m talking about the ART Tube MP Studio. It’s already been featured on my channel several times, and because I’ve already covered the tech specs in those other videos, I keep this one focused on what actually matters: how it sounds and why I recommend it so often. For this demo I deliberately paired it with the Lewitt LCT 440 Pure, which is a very bright mic and, in my experience, can struggle with sibilance. Bringing in the ART Tube MP Studio is where things get interesting, because a tube preamp can help tame those higher harsh frequencies that are uncomfortable to listen to. On top of that, you get that body and warmth tube gear is known for, which balances out a brighter microphone really well. If you’re trying to add some analog character to your recordings without spending a whole lot of money, this is easily one of the best entry-level preamps you can buy—especially since you can usually find it for under $100.
