Come with me to Walmart while I grab my favorite things for my favorite people for Valentine’s Day. We’re going out of town, but I still wanted my kids to have something to open Valentine’s morning—so I shopped smart, found some really cute stuff, and did it all at prices that made sense. The big working-mom tip here is keeping it simple, grabbing a few thoughtful items for each kid, and then packing it away so nobody “accidentally” finds it before the big day. I shared exactly what I picked for each of my three—like a pink Stranger Things tee for Ava (because she loves hoodies and sweatshirts), Reese’s hearts, a spray mist, and Dr. Teal’s (the only one that doesn’t break her skin out). For my boys, I did green shirts (because St. Patrick’s Day is coming anyway, so it doubles as a gift), candy, heart sparklers, and a light-up football—because yes, we have a million balls, but a light-up one is just more fun. I even tried water bottles again even though they’ve lost five this school year. And for the most important person in the house—my husband—I grabbed a heat massager for his neck and shoulders, Reese’s, a finance book (Rich Dad Poor Dad) to add to his library, and a card… because y’all know I’m an essay writer in cards.
