Why I Didn't Buy My Dream Patek & How I Found Happiness Collecting Watches Beyond The Hype

In March I walked away from pulling the trigger on my dream Patek, the World Time ref. 5130G. It's a brand I have a strong love/hate relationship with. Why is this? Why did I chose a simple mechanical Hamilton GS Khaki field watch instead? Surprisingly, it has nothing to do with the almost distasteful high value of the Patek worldtimer, but rather, something far more revealing about how I find happiness in watch collecting.
