Joy-Con drift is one of those problems that makes you waste time on “maybe this will work” fixes—cleaning, resetting, recalibrating—only for the drift to come right back. In this video, I show the real solution: replacing the joystick itself using a GuliKit kit. I go slow on purpose, because this repair isn’t hard, it’s just easy to mess up if you rush. If you can hold a screwdriver and stay patient, you can absolutely do this at home. I walk you through the full teardown and reassembly for both left and right Joy-Cons, including the spots where people usually break something: the outer tri-wing screws that strip if you speed-run them, the “open it like a book” shell method so you don’t yank the internal cable, and the tiny ZIF connector lock on the joystick ribbon cable (no force—ever). I also cover small details that actually matter, like screw length, not using metal tools near the battery, optional dust stickers to keep grime out long-term, and why you should never overtighten the shell. To finish it properly, I show the step everyone skips: calibrating the control sticks in System Settings. If your movement circle is smooth and centered, you’re done—and the drift is fixed at the source.
