In this video I take you along for a pretty stressful travel day getting myself and my bike across Java, going from Ijen to Bogor. It’s not a “perfect travel vlog” kind of mission—more like the real behind-the-scenes of moving a bike through Indonesia: figuring out transport, keeping an eye on the bike, and just trying to make the connections work without something going sideways. If you’ve ever looked at a map and thought, “How hard could it be?”, this day is basically the answer. The big takeaway is that traveling with a bike is totally doable, but you’ve got to stay flexible and patient. I’m constantly weighing up the easiest option vs the safest option for the bike, and the day turns into a mix of problem-solving and pushing through the chaos.
