In this one I’m in the Redwoods, Rotorua, lining up for the Ultra Rose grade 6 trail—aka the kind of track that makes you question your life choices before you even drop in. The whole goal was simple: see if it’s actually rideable (for me, on the day), and try hold it together through the steep, techy, barely-in-control sections that make grade 6 feel like a different sport. If you’re into proper Rotorua gnar, this video is basically a raw attempt at surviving Ultra Rose and keeping the wheels pointing the right way. The big takeaway is that grade 6 isn’t about looking smooth—it’s about committing, picking lines fast, and accepting you’re going to get bucked around.
