In this video, I break down why traditional SEO metrics were built for “10 blue links” and why they miss what’s happening now that Google AI Overviews/AI Mode and chat platforms can answer the question without a click. The real problem is you can be invisible inside AI answers and never see it in Search Console or your rank tracker. I walk you through the AI visibility KPIs I’m tracking inside Semrush One: an AI Visibility Score (0–100) to benchmark against competitors, mentions/appearances across prompts, estimated monthly audience behind those prompts, which cited pages and sources are powering those answers, and the “missing prompts” where competitors show up but you don’t. Then I show a simple monthly workflow: baseline your brand vs 3–5 competitors, add high-leverage queries to prompt tracking, run a site audit to fix technical blockers (like blocked AI crawlers or missing LLM directives), rebuild content around prompts (not just keywords), and finally earn/consolidate citations from the external sources AI keeps referencing.
