Earlier this year I had to say goodbye to my desk setup of 4 years, and I’m not gonna lie—it was kind of depressing tearing down something I put so much time (and money) into. But starting from scratch gave me the chance to build what I’ve wanted for a long time: a true dual-zone setup where gaming and productivity don’t fight each other. The foundation is the Vernal walnut L-shape standing desk, and I walk through why I went with the integrated drawer, wheels (because I’m not breaking my back), and how stable it feels with a 350 lb capacity, anti-collision, and memory height presets. From there, I break down the two setups. For gaming, I went OLED and landed on the ASUS PG32UCDM after CES 2025—4K, 240Hz, QD-OLED with that glossy pop (but yes, it’s Reflection City). I pair it with Edifier QR65 speakers for fun desktop audio, the Gravastar K1 Pro (cyberpunk in keyboard form), and my favorite Razer mouse ever: the Viper Mini SE. Then on the productivity side, I recreated what already worked: LG’s 38-inch ultrawide, my fully-loaded M1 Max MacBook Pro, and a workflow combo that keeps me locked in—Keychron Q3 Pro, G502 X Plus, Magic Trackpad vibes, and docks/interfaces to tie it all together. I also get into lighting (Hue + Nanoleaf) and smart blinds because dark walls changed everything.
