If you’re like me, you love a clean desk… until you add that one cable, the laziness kicks in, and suddenly you’ve got 10 more cables strung everywhere. In this video, I walk you through my “ONE Cable Desk Setup” approach—basically a simple, repeatable cable management system that gets your setup looking clean and professional without overcomplicating it. I start with what you actually need: a drill and screwdriver, then the real game-changers—an actual surge protector (not just an outlet extender), Velcro brand cable ties, adhesive clips, and a Velcro roll so you can mount your surge protector cleanly. The centerpiece is the under-desk cable tray, because once the tray is in, you can either do it the “proper” way with ties or do it the lazy way like me and just tuck what you can so it disappears. Then I go step-by-step: pick your layout, place Velcro carefully (because you don’t want to move it), drill the tray, mount the surge protector, plug in big power bricks first, do a cable check (especially if you use a monitor arm), tie/tuck everything, power on to troubleshoot, and finish with a wipe-down for the reveal.
