I’m on the iPhone 16 Pro Max in Black Titanium this year, and after seeing durability testing, I’m not panicking about scratches—but I still think a good case is the move, especially for the back and sidewalls. I start with the Apple Silicone Case as the “baseline” because the fit is perfect and the microfiber lining is honestly one of the nicest out there. But I also talk about my biggest gripe this year: cases that cover the new Camera Control button. I press it constantly when I pick my phone up, so I’ve started preferring cases with a cutout or at least a lip. From there I get into heavy-hitter options like the MagBak Elite (silicone case on steroids with a kickstand, finger loop, and fridge-grabbing magnets), slim aramid/Kevlar picks from Benks, my yearly favorites from Pitaka (finally improved magnets), and the Andar Aspen if you want that premium full-grain leather since Apple doesn’t offer leather anymore. My takeaway: don’t over-fixate on one feature—pick what fits your life, because at the end of the day, it’s a phone. Use it.
