In this video I’m taking a basic t-shirt and showing you how I tweak it so it fits me the way I actually want it to. If you’ve ever put on a tee and thought, “Why is this almost right but not quite?”, this is exactly the kind of easy, realistic sewing fix I love. I walk through the general process of trying it on, spotting the spots that bug me, and then making small, manageable changes so the final shirt feels more like “my” shirt instead of just a shirt. My big takeaway is that you don’t need a whole new wardrobe (or an advanced pattern-drafting degree) to get a more tailored look. A few simple alterations and a little time can make even a basic piece look cleaner and feel more comfortable—aka the stuff you’ll actually reach for.
