Hey guys, in Part 1 of my Unreal Engine 5.1 Endless Runner series, I’m setting up the entire project and giving you a quick overview of what we’re going to build. Throughout this series we’ll create our own endless runner game from scratch with a custom character, power ups, high scores, and randomly generated levels so every run feels a bit different. The gameplay is fast-paced—you’ll be jumping and sliding to avoid obstacles—and the character speed will gradually increase (I show it as blue text on the top-left), which makes the run more intense over time. Then I jump straight into Unreal Engine 5.1 and create the project using the Third Person template because it already includes essential stuff like character models and animations. I name the project “Endless_Runner” and enable Starter Content so we have some pre-made assets to work with. After that, I organize the Content Browser by creating a Runner folder with Maps and Blueprints inside it, make a custom GameMode (BP_RunnerGameMode), and create a clean Basic level (Runner_MAP). Finally, I update Project Settings so the editor starts on Runner_MAP and uses BP_RunnerGameMode. In the next part, I’ll start adding our endless runner character and animations.
