In this weeks video I explain how I manage to access 1x and 2x Clarity zoom underwater with my Insta360 AcePro 2. Not just for video but also for photography whilst still having access to changing presets. This is critical for you to be able to capture proper macro and video with your AcePro2 and taking advantage of currently being the only Action Camera that can take RAW macro photographs or 4k60 at 2x zoom. Its not a perfect solution for photography but until Insta360 updates the firmware this is the only realistic option apart from cropping. I won't crop an image in post. When Insta360 does update the software I will add a note to the description and do an updated video. Please check out my other videos on the Insta360 AcePro 2. About This Video

In this video I walk you through the only realistic way I’ve found (right now) to get proper macro on the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 underwater using 1x and 2x Clarity Zoom—both for video and for photos—while still being able to swap presets in the housing. The problem is simple: Insta360 still hasn’t fixed a couple of firmware annoyances, and once the camera’s in a housing you can’t use the touchscreen, so Clarity Zoom access and preset switching clash with the current button behavior. I show why setting a button to Clarity Zoom is fine until you realize you’ve basically locked yourself out of changing presets underwater. For video, it’s workable because you can enable Clarity Zoom “while recording” and toggle 1x/2x mid-clip. For photos, it’s basically impossible unless you use my workaround: set your 12.5MP photo preset to 2x before the dive, set Auto Power Off to “Never,” and make sure Underwater Mode is configured in the right order so it doesn’t reset your field of view (and kick you back to 1x). It’s not perfect—battery takes a hit—but it lets me shoot wide, macro, photo and video on the same dive without cropping in post.
