About This Video

In this video, I’m taking you with me into Amazon’s newest Vancouver office (the Post) for a cozy day-in-the-life as a software engineer—plus a mini office tour. It’s honestly such a beautiful space to get work done in: tons of greenery, huge windows, and really unreal city views. It’s also my last office day before holiday break, so you’ll see my work routine, some meeting moments, and a little bit of the “everything is still new” feeling now that I’ve been full-time for a few months. I also chat about the stuff you guys always ask me about: return-to-office and what it might mean for work-life balance, my backend-leaning tech stack (in broad terms), and what my CS degree was actually like. I share how I dealt with burnout in university (spoiler: cramming is not it) and what I’d do differently—basically, chip away at goals instead of leaving everything last minute. And on the more personal side, I talk about making friends as an adult, how hard that’s been for me in Vancouver, and why it’s so sad when work friends move away. To end on a cozy note, I share my current hobby obsession: crocheting and knitting cute little projects after work.
