About This Video

I tested the EVOFOX Ronin because it’s one of the most popular budget keyboards right now—and I’ve personally recommended it to a lot of people. So in this video, I break it down with real facts: build quality, switch feel, typing sound, RGB, and the small “quirks” that most influencer-style reviews won’t tell you. Out of the box it’s very light, the plastic feels a bit cheap, and inside it’s basically an empty shell—so yes, it needs maintenance/modding if you actually care about sound and feel. I also call out the marketing, because the product page is full of confusing or misleading claims (like “pro mode hot swap,” “nine layer gasket,” and inconsistent battery info). The stock ABS keycaps look fine from a distance, but up close the legends are already dull, and they’ll get worse over time. RGB effects are surprisingly good, the knob feels great and responsive, but the keyboard can slide when you press the knob because the board is so lightweight. Then I open it up and do the mods that actually matter: filling the case with sound-absorbing material, a 2-layer tape mod on the PCB, re-lubing the stabilizers, and swapping to better PBT keycaps to unlock brighter RGB and a cleaner sound. My verdict: it’s decent with a lot of “but’s.” For the wireless price around 4K, I don’t think it’s worth it versus better options—wired makes more sense, or wait for a sale around ~3.2K or lower.
