In this video, I review and teardown the IQUNIX MQ80 and explain why low-profile keyboards can be a legit solution if you deal with wrist pain, fatigue, or you just hate how tall and steep normal boards feel. The MQ80 is almost half the height of a regular keyboard, so it’s great for minimal setups, portability, and even faster typing. I also show a quick size comparison between low-profile keycaps/switches and regular ones, because the difference is honestly wild. I go over the full feature stack too: full aluminum case, hard shell carry case, tri-mode connectivity, 4,000 mAh battery, hot-swap (but not universal—low-profile is picky), VIA support, and a smooth “creamy” sound profile. I also talk about the RGB and the unique side glow that can double as a battery indicator. Then I open it up, show the internals (flex-cut PCB, multiple sound dampening layers, and those little “lay gaskets”), and I call out the big flaw: the top plate paint scratches way too easily. Finally, I address the stabilizers—out of the box they were pingy and rattly because there’s basically no lube. I show a simple fix using cheap dielectric silicone grease, and after that the board makes way more sense. Overall: sleek, solid, feature-packed, with a few quirks—but nothing that feels like a dealbreaker if you’re willing to do a tiny bit of work.
