About This Video

In this Japan Diaries vlog, I’m checking out of our little apartment in Iriya (already missing it) and heading to teamLab Borderless before we move to a hotel in Yokohama. I tried % Arabica on the way and honestly enjoyed it a lot, then spent the morning getting completely obsessed with how Borderless works—everything flows into each other and it’s constantly changing. The waterfall room responds to the crowd, the floating characters fade when you touch them, and the reflective glass spaces with fog + light felt so ethereal. One of my favourite parts was the light “bubbles” installation—your presence literally changes the room, which I interpreted as how we impact our surroundings. Afterwards we ate ramen (warm broth was so good for my sore throat) and stumbled into a little neighbourhood event back in Iriya. Then it’s Yokohama time: World Porters, Chiikawa yaki (Japanese sweets are always not too sweet, which makes them rich and yum), and a whole Bandai Namco floor with anime merch + gachapon—plus I picked up an Oikawa lookup figure. The next day we do Blue Bottle Coffee breakfast, head up Tokyo Skytree for unreal views, then stop by the Ghibli store and Senso-ji Temple. I end with a mini haul—Ponyo everything, a Totoro diary, and a Spirited Away blind box where I somehow pulled the special Haku.
