About This Video

Welcome to the first vlog of my Japan diaries — my first 72 hours in Japan, from landing day to a Mount Fuji day tour. I start off flying in and checking into our place in Iriya (it’s basically an apartment, so having a full kitchen was such a win). Of course, the first mission was konbini shopping — snacks, cup ramen (a must), and a super cheap but insanely good first meal: a gyuudon set with raw egg for about AUD$7. I also tried that vitamin C drink I kept seeing everywhere (the fizz went up my nose lol), plus chocolate mushrooms and tuna mayo onigiri that quickly became my go-to. Day 2 is all about slower exploring: Shibamata (old-school town vibes, cute shops, redbean dango, and a beautiful Buddhist temple), then Yamamoto-tei garden for the peaceful reset. After that, we head to Yanaka for a cozy traditional cafe moment with my first matcha latte and omahayashi rice. At night, I go full shopping mode in Ginza — GU, UNIQLO’s huge flagship, MUJI, and LOFT (stationery heaven). Day 3 is the Mount Fuji tour: Shimoyoshida views that feel straight out of an anime, Lake Kawaguchi at Oishi Park, and the most unexpectedly good flower-flavoured ice cream. I end the vlog back at the apartment planning the rest of the trip on Notion (Kichijoji, Koenji, thrift stores, and even a Persona-inspired jazz bar).
