In this cozy digital painting study, I’m drawing Niki and taking you along for a super chill draw-with-me session while I test out the Huion Kamvas 13 (and also the Huion H420). I start with a quick unboxing vibe, then we get into the actual painting process—face/portrait study energy, soft rendering, and just enjoying the quiet pace of building up values and color. If you love sketchbook diaries but want that same comfy feeling in digital, this one’s very that. I also share my honest experience using the Kamvas 13: the build feels solid, the matte screen makes it feel almost paper-like, and the colors look pretty accurate to me. I really love having 8 customizable buttons + the adjustable stand because it makes my workflow feel way more efficient, and the battery-free pen is lightweight with pressure sensitivity that feels on point. I do mention a few downsides too—some pixelation, it can get warmer on the right side during longer sessions, and the buttons can occasionally stop responding. For the Huion H420, I talk about how easy and portable it is (and the price is reasonable), but the pen needs a AAA battery and the active area feels too small when I’m trying to do detailed work.
