About This Video

Today Ashley & Kylie (that’s us—Opal&Mint) opened a box of wacky, weird, and honestly kind of amazing art supplies from Amazon. This video is very “let’s test it so you don’t have to,” with lots of swatching, scribbling, and figuring out what’s actually usable vs. what’s just chaotic fun. We pulled out everything from Aqua Puffs and puffy paint gel pens to glitter paint pens, erasable gel pens, and color-changing markers—basically a full mixed-media party. The big takeaway: some of these “gimmicky” supplies are surprisingly satisfying for sketchbook play, card-making, and adding texture on top of watercolor (once your wash is fully dry). We also talk through what we’d realistically reach for again, what feels more kid-crafty, and which items are better as a creative challenge than an everyday staple. And just so you know, this one isn’t sponsored—these are our real opinions, and a few links are affiliate links if you want to shop along with us.
