Hey friends—this one is a watercolor blooms day, but I’m going to be real with you: I was struggling with a migraine while filming. I still sat down with my sketchbook and tried to paint a dahlia anyway, kind of as a “let’s see what we can do with what we’ve got today” moment. It’s a cozy floral session where I focus on keeping things simple, letting the water do some of the work, and not overthinking every petal. In this video I’m leaning on a few comfort-supplies that make painting feel easier when my brain is not cooperating—like a dagger brush for quick petal shapes and soft blends, and a small, soothing color combo with Holbein Shell Pink plus a couple greens (Terre Verte and Sap Green) for leaves. The big takeaway is that you can absolutely still make something pretty on a hard day—work a little looser, keep your palette limited, and give yourself permission to let it be imperfect.
