Hey friends! This is the final part of my Daniel Smith swatching series, and we’re wrapping it up with the Luminescent watercolors. In this video I’m swatching, comparing, and really paying attention to what these special-effect colors actually do on paper—because luminescents can look amazing in the pan and then behave totally differently once you add water. I’m watching for shine, granulation, coverage, and whether the color stays readable or just turns into “sparkle water” (you know what I mean). The big goal here is palette building: I’m picking colors for a brand new 14-pan Daniel Smith palette, and I also share my picks for a softer “delicates” palette. I’m focusing on colors that feel unique (not duplicates of what I already own), plus a mix that will actually be usable in real paintings—neutrals and earths that ground everything, a few fun pops, and some specialty shades that give those dreamy highlights.
