Yes people, we are back—and this one’s a solo truck camping night with rain in the forecast, thunder off in the distance, and a late start that had me racing sunset. I set up under my Danchel Outdoors awning, got my ICECO chair parked by the fire, and dialed in a simple backseat sleep setup: the Pittman Outdoors backseat mattress inflated with a little mini inflator and power bank, my UGQ Outdoors Quillow, and my Manta Sleep silk pillowcase (because I like being comfortable, even when the weather’s acting up). It wasn’t cold at all—just warm and extremely buggy—so I was layered up mostly to fight mosquitoes. Once I got the fire going, I kept it low and slow under the tarp with plenty of clearance. I also showed why I keep Blackbeard fire plugs around—those things are straight-up magic with a ferro rod. Supper was the usual suspect: steak and onions in a well-seasoned cast iron pan (and I’ll say it again—Teflon’s got nothing on cast iron). I may have overdone the steak a touch, but as we like to say on this channel, good is good. After a movie and a great night of sleep in the truck, I wrapped it up with a simple breakfast—oatmeal, almond butter, and my favorite coffee—and called it a good one.
