About This Video

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening—whatever time it is where you’re watching. In this one, Fiona and I find ourselves tucked into a tiny cabin in central Minnesota, and I’ve got to tell you, it’s absolutely awesome. It’s literally one room with a couch, a little foldout table, a loft bed, a beautiful chandelier, and most importantly for this trip—air conditioning. It was mid-80s out, and that’s just too hot for Fiona to be out camping the way we usually do, so a tiny cabin was the perfect way to still get out and enjoy the outdoors without making it rough on her. Once the sun dropped and we caught a beautiful sunset, supper was about as “high class” as it gets: microwave beef stew and pre-made rice. Fiona was convinced it was for her (and honestly, it smelled like cat food), so she got her own kibble and a chewy while I settled in with an Audible book playing through a neat little vintage-style portable radio speaker. We wrapped up the night with a movie on my phone, then woke up to a cozy morning—Blackout instant coffee, turkey cheddar sausages, and a breakfast sandwich—before cleaning up and heading out. Simple, comfortable, and honestly the exact kind of cabin I’d build myself.
