About This Video

In this video, I compared three sunscreens I’ve actually used and tested on my own face, so by the end you can figure out what you can tolerate and what you cannot—and just stick with one. I reviewed Skin Doctor SPF 80, Neutrogena Hydro Boost SPF 50, and Missha Aqua sunscreen SPF 50. I applied each one using the two-finger rule (and yes, I even mentioned why I don’t like applying on my neck when I’m just testing), then I showed how they blend, how they feel on the skin, and the kind of finish they give. Skin Doctor is the cheapest and has a lot of good ingredients (hyaluronic acid, vitamins A, E & F) plus broad spectrum protection, but it’s hard to blend and it can leave obvious white cast—especially when you sweat. Neutrogena blends fast with no white cast and gives a glowy finish, but it can make me feel hot quickly and it stings my eyes if it gets in there. Missha is the smallest and most expensive, but it feels super light, absorbs well, and gives a glow that’s not crazy. My main takeaway: if you can’t afford the pricey one, it’s still better to use the cheaper sunscreen than to use nothing—just apply a smaller quantity if the white cast is too much.
