Rachel Duckhouse is a Glasgow-based artist who works with printmaking and drawing, and has also received several public art commissions. We spoke with her in her studio near Glasgow Print Studio where she makes her finished prints. Rachel talked about becoming a full-time artist, how etching was a technique she was drawn to, and why she often chooses to work on copper plates. Copper was the traditional material chosen by artists of the past, perhaps most notably Rembrandt, Albrecht Dürer, and Francisco de Goya. Making an etching on copper involves a number of technical steps which Rachel demonstrated for us in our film exploring different printmaking techniques https://youtu.be/RvjQYRxMMzI?feature=shared Explore Rachel's work at https://www.rachelduckhouse.co.uk/
