How do you create different ways for people to engage with art? What goes into putting together the Galleries' vibrant talks and lectures programme? And who co-ordinates unique musical experiences performed amongst the artworks? In Programming Around Art, Gráinne Rice tells us about her role as an adults programme co-ordinator; the tasks involved in her team's varied programme of activities, giving audiences new ways into art and how a school visit to the Tate opened up a new world for her. The film features a Live Music Now performance by musicians Nabani Aguilar, Morgan Szymanski, and Isla Ratcliff, and rehearsals for a performance of Maud Sulter's Service to Empire, directed by Adura Onashile, and featuring Paul McCole and Michelle Chantelle Hopewell. Working With Art is a series from the National Galleries of Scotland, where we delve into the different roles across our galleries. We ask: what do people do in an art gallery? What's happening behind the scenes? And what is it really like to work with art? Produced by the National Galleries of Scotland, with music by Alex Johnston. Special thanks to all staff who participated in production.
