About This Video

Hey friends! In this video I’m starting my maternity leave planning series, and part 1 is all about routines and procedures—because if those are solid, everything else feels so much more manageable when I’m out. I walk you through how I’m thinking about the day-to-day flow in my 3rd grade classroom and what I want to make super clear for a long-term sub (and honestly, for my students too). This is one of those “set yourself up now so you’re not stressed later” kinds of videos. I share how I like to get really specific with procedures—everything from what students do when they walk in, to transitions, to how I want small things handled so the classroom can run smoothly without me. I also talk about using a routines and procedures checklist to make sure I’m not forgetting the little stuff that matters (because it’s always the little stuff). If you’re pregnant, planning a leave, or just trying to tighten up your classroom systems, this is a practical plan-with-me to help you get organized and feel confident heading into time away.
