In today’s video I did one of my favorite tests: half my face is high-end and the other half is drugstore, using five products on each side (foundation, eyeshadow palette, blush, lip liner, and lipstick). I don’t really love calling these “dupes,” because they’re not always identical in shade or texture—what I care about is how they wear on my mature skin and whether they’re truly comparable. And honestly… when I looked in the mirror, I was blown away at how similar both sides looked. For foundation, I compared Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin to the Maybelline Fit Me Hydrate + Smooth, and both gave me that luminous, natural coverage without settling into fine lines (and the Maybelline is a fraction of the price). For eyeshadow, I put Tartelette Toasted up against the NYX Ultimate Warm Neutrals and found several shades that are extremely close on the eyes—plus I actually had more fallout on the Tarte side. Then we moved into a glowy balm blush (Haus Labs) versus the Pixi On-the-Glow Blush (a product I’ve had a love-hate relationship with, but I’m finally making it work). And my biggest surprise? Drugstore absolutely shines with the Maybelline Lifter Liner and Milani Color Fetish lipstick—gorgeous, comfortable, long-wearing, and so budget-friendly.
