In this video I’m testing a handful of brand new drugstore launches (I filmed it on Valentine’s Day in my little V-Day shirt) and I’m putting them on real, dry, mature skin—no filters, no smoothing, just honest results. I’m 56 (soon to be 57), and in the winter my skin gets extra dry, so I’m always looking for affordable makeup that enhances instead of emphasizing texture, fine lines, or dryness. I prep with my usual skincare, keep my eye look simple, and then we get into the fun part: concealer, eyeliner, mascara, bronzer, blush, lip liner, and lipstick. The standout for me is the e.l.f. Soft Glam Satin Concealer—$6 here in Canada and it honestly rivals high-end. It gives me medium, buildable coverage with a satiny finish, doesn’t crease on me, and still looks great even after a long wear day. I also really loved the Maybelline Sculpting Stick eyeliner because it’s ultra creamy (no tugging!), smudges out nicely, and didn’t transfer to my bottom waterline. And don’t sleep on the Milani baked bronzer and blush—yes, they look shimmery in the pan, but on the cheeks they give that pretty, lit-from-within luminosity that I think looks so flattering on mature skin.
