About This Video

This video is a little bit different from my usual Asian beauty reviews, but I really wanted to film it because I know how overwhelming it can feel if you’re breastfeeding and you’re planning a Japan trip. I went to Japan with my five-month-old (she was about to turn 5 months there), and because she was nursing basically hourly, I had to figure out how to feed her comfortably in public, on the go, and in between sightseeing without stressing out. I share my overall experience breastfeeding in Japan (honestly, it was lovely—people were respectful and no one stared), plus the practical things that made the biggest difference: bringing a breathable nursing cover for warm spring weather, using a lightweight carrier, and adding teething pads for the straps because my baby was nibbling everything. I also talk about how I ended up nursing on the go when I couldn’t find a clean/comfortable spot (like at the zoo), and why it’s worth practicing both nursing under a cover and nursing in a carrier before you travel. The biggest highlight for me was Japan’s nursing rooms—clean, peaceful, and surprisingly easy to find in malls and department stores. I show you how I locate them (directory maps, bottle symbol, even Googling the store map), mention Uniqlo nursing rooms, and share the Mamapapamap app for when you’re stuck and need a nearby option fast.
