About This Video

In this video, I’m basically dumping (and structuring) my raw thoughts on the “AI is taking our jobs” narrative—because most online takes miss the nuance. AI hasn’t magically replaced mainstream jobs end-to-end. What it’s done is reduce the number of people needed for the same outcome: the classic “10 devs became 3” shift. But the bigger point is that those three people aren’t doing the same job as the ten did—titles stayed the same, the work changed. When I say “software engineering isn’t dead,” I’m talking about software engineering in 2026, not the 2020 version a lot of people are still trying to do. Then I break AI down into eras. Era 1 was the ChatGPT wave: wrappers and point tools like Midjourney and Copilot. Era 2 is what we’re entering now: AI agents—smarter models + bigger context windows + real tooling/infrastructure so the system can actually take actions across your apps. I show Sim.ai Mothership as a clean example: connect Gmail/Notion/etc., run workflows, even generate and deploy small web apps. But even in Era 2, the missing piece is agency—the “why” and the decision-making. My take: the people who keep winning are the ones with high agency who learn to drive these tools, and that’s what’s reshaping jobs heading into 2028.
