In this video, I break down two big announcements from the Vite ecosystem: Void (their new deployment platform) and Vite Plus (a unified web toolchain). If you’re a frontend dev, you already know Vite is basically the default way to bootstrap modern React/Vue/etc. projects—and now they’re trying to extend that workflow all the way into deployment and “full-stack” primitives. Void is the interesting one: it’s essentially a Vite-native deployment platform that’s deeply coupled to Cloudflare under the hood. You deploy with a simple flow (including a Vite config plugin), and you get managed primitives like D1 (SQLite), KV, R2 storage, Workers AI (or bring your own key), cron jobs, queues, and even ISR-style revalidation. The twist is you don’t bring your own Cloudflare account—Void abstracts it and uses their Cloudflare setup, which screams “future monetization” and also raises the obvious question: how does this compete when Cloudflare is already popular with the same crowd? Then there’s Vite Plus, which feels like a response to Bun: one CLI that manages runtime/package manager and bundles in build, lint, format, typecheck, and testing (I’m a big fan of Vitest). They’re also making aggressive performance claims via Rust components—if those numbers hold, competition is going to get very spicy.
