The Rebel Audio Rebel Amp is a $500 class A amplifier offering from a single man startup in Ukraine. This project has turned out fantastic results and he has made an amplifier that I feel is a top contender at its given price. HUGE thanks to Rebel Audio for loaning me one of his amps for this review! About This Video

In this video I review the Rebel Audio Rebel Amp, a $500 fully Class A headphone amp from a one-man startup in Ukraine. Before getting into it, I’m clear about the context: the owner loaned it to me specifically for an honest review, and I’m not paid or influenced to say anything. I run through the relevant specs (1W @ 32 ohms, 0.1 ohm output impedance, 1/4" out, RCA in, plus RCA out) and then get into the physical design—an all-metal chassis with a green anodized top, a smooth volume knob, a 3-position gain switch, and a really nice feature: selectable pre-outs that let me mute the headphone output when I’m using speakers. Sound-wise, I’m comparing it directly against the $500 HeadAmp Gilmore Lite Mk2 and also referencing the Schiit Asgard 3. The Rebel sounds fantastic, with standout microdetail and microdynamics, strong macrodynamics, and a wide stage with great separation and imaging. It’s also surprisingly quiet with sensitive IEMs—no hiss for me. The main place the Asgard 3 still wins is warmth (and raw power on paper), but overall I ended up feeling like the Rebel is the top pick in the sub-$500 category, with my biggest feedback being: offer more color options than green.
