The Dunu Luna is Dunu's current flagship IEM. Coming in using only a single beryllium dynamic driver, this certainly makes for quite an interesting entry into the market that is full of multi-driver offerings. While technically I think this IEM does very well, it's overall performance is marred by a somewhat off-putting tuning. About This Video

In this video I review the Dunu Luna, Dunu’s current flagship IEM that goes against the grain by using a single 10mm pure beryllium rolled-foil dynamic driver instead of a multi-driver BA/hybrid setup. I run through the specs (16 ohms, 110 dB/mW, 5–40kHz), the all-metal “moon” shell design, and Dunu’s modular cable system with swappable terminations (I used the 4.4mm, but you’ve got 2.5 and 3.5 options too). I also talk about the accessory situation—this thing normally ships with an absurdly huge box and a ton of extras—though I only received the essentials for the loaner. Fit is the first real hurdle. The nozzle is very short and small, so getting a seal took me a lot of tip rolling, and even when it seals it sits shallow, isolates poorly, and can feel like it’s about to break seal if you move around. Sound-wise, the Luna is extremely tip-sensitive, so my impressions are with Final E-Series tips: solid bass extension with a small mid-bass hump, very forward upper-mids, and then a big treble scoop with a 9–10k peak. Technically it’s decent with impressive slam and punch, but the tuning makes timbre sound shrill/odd and the stage/imaging come off average to below average. Bottom line: capable driver, off-putting tuning, and at this price I can’t recommend it without heavy EQ.
