I made this video because I think we’ve turned New Year’s resolutions into a weird cultural performance: big promises in January, and then quiet guilt by February. I walk through why so many resolutions don’t stick (it’s not a character flaw), and why January is actually a pretty terrible month to overhaul your life. Between post-holiday recovery, work ramping back up, and the pressure to “start fresh,” January often becomes overload—not a clean slate. Instead, I argue that February is the real fresh start. It gives you space to reflect on what you actually want, set goals that are specific and realistic, and build habits gradually rather than all at once. I share a simple approach: choose fewer priorities, define what “success” looks like in concrete terms, and use regular reflection (weekly or monthly) to adjust without spiraling into all-or-nothing thinking.
