It got progressively worse during my trad pub journey (and I have very exciting news about that, which i can’t wait to share *eventually*) because it was all about mindlessly refreshing social media, website hits and my inbox while I didn’t have news, and I didn’t have news *for a long time.* I’m also just really tired of technology — which is kind of hilarious given what this channel’s about, especially back in the day — but honestly, I feel like I’m turning into that cranky old person who just wants to retire to a cottage, read the news from an actual newspaper, and listen to the radio instead. So, ANYWAY, here are a few things I’m planning on doing for the next few months to dramatically reduce screen time. ✨Writing Handles: Twitter: @marviecoelho Blue Sky: @marianavcoelho.bsky.social Instagram: marianavcoelho_author ↳ Links and Resources ✽ My Free Resource Library: https://shorturl.at/ikuL0 ✽ Project Planning Framework: https://productivityforhumans.notion.site/Project-Planning-Framework-2295cb02eea0475eabc1f7862f2ebeea?pvs=4 ✽ Start Using Notion (this is an affiliate link): https://affiliate.notion.so/y2903zib47ba ✽ Exclusive Videos, Tutorials and Templates: https://go.nebula.tv/mariana ✽ Subscribe Our Weekly Newsletter: https://productivity-for-humans.ck.page/ca598b2b3c ↳ Credits ✽ Editing: @MaryAmongStories ✽ Stock imagery and footage provided by Getty Images ✽ Music provided by Epidemic Sound ↳ Connect With Me ✽ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/marianasscorner ✽ My website: https://productivityforhumans.com ✽ For sponsorship inquiries, please contact my team at marianastudycorner@standard.tv ✽ For any other inquiries, please reach out at info@productivityforhumans.com ☰ FTC Disclaimer: This video is sponsored by LingQ

About This Video

I’m talking about something I’m genuinely a little ashamed of: my screen time. It crept up on me and then got progressively worse during my traditional publishing journey, because my default coping mechanism became refreshing—social media, website hits, and my inbox—over and over, especially when there was no news (and there was no news for a long time). The result wasn’t “productive research.” It was anxious, mindless checking that made me feel more scattered and more tired. In this video I share a handful of practical changes I’m committing to over the next few months to dramatically reduce how much time I spend on screens. The goal isn’t to become anti-tech (which is, yes, ironic given my channel), but to use technology more intentionally—so I can get back to calmer days, deeper focus, and more consistent writing. I’m basically trying to stop living like I’m one notification away from something happening, and start living like the person who could happily read a real newspaper and listen to the radio in a cottage. If you’re stuck in the refresh loop, this is your permission slip to build friction, set boundaries, and reclaim your attention.
